In Japan, there is a culture of sending letters called “shochu-mimai” in summer.

暑中見舞しょちゅうみまいは、あつなつ大切たいせつひとおく手紙てがみです。

Shochu-mimai is a letter sent to important people during the hot summer.

あついですが、元気げんきですか?」という気持きもちをつたえます。

It expresses the feeling of “It is hot, but are you doing well?”
