How to use
Learn Japanese with stories
Choose a story at your level, then use furigana, English translations, vocabulary support, and audio only when you need help. Start free and build confidence one reading at a time.
1. Choose reading at your level
Browse stories by JLPT level and topic to find material that suits you. Start with something you can understand with a little effort, then build a steady reading habit before moving on to harder texts.
2. Read with furigana
Show furigana when you need help reading kanji. As you become more confident, hide it and challenge yourself to read the kanji independently. You can switch it on or off at any time.
3. Check the English translation
Read the Japanese first, then show the English translation to check your understanding. Waiting until after your first attempt makes the translation a useful reading-comprehension tool instead of a shortcut.
4. Practice with audio
For content with audio, listen while following the text, test your listening without looking, or repeat each sentence aloud. Replaying the audio helps you become familiar with natural Japanese rhythm and pronunciation.
5. Explore Japanese culture
Learn through content about Japanese culture, food, and everyday life as well as stories. Use these sections when you want to discover more about Japan while developing practical reading skills.
